Why textiles matter in cold rooms
Brick and stone hold chill along the canals. Wool runners, linen curtains, and a single tapestry fragment change how long you linger in a room without covering every wall.
We measure for clearance under radiators and around shutter boxes so fabric does not roast or snag.
Belgian linen and Flemish weavers
Our partners include a linen workshop near Kortrijk and a Brugge-based upholsterer who will collect frames from Steenstraat. We favour undyed or gently dyed cloth that ages beside antique timber instead of fighting it with synthetic sheen.
Vintage tapestry fragments are backed for hanging; we do not glue historic textiles to walls.
Rugs that survive tourist-street grit
Steenstraat brings fine dust indoors. Flatweaves and tightly knotted wool clean more easily than deep shag. We specify pads that grip uneven boards without trapping moisture against the floor.
Outdoor shoes stay in the hall when possible; textile plans assume that habit.
Curtains for narrow windows
Medieval street façades often mean tall, slim openings. We avoid heavy swags that steal light and prefer simple panels on quiet rods set just beyond the reveal.
Interlining helps winter evenings without the bulk of blackout synthetics that look alien beside oak.
Textile plan fees
A room textile plan (curtains, one rug, seat fabric options) starts at €280 including fabric samples. Full-house soft-furnishing coordination for up to five rooms is €920. Installation labour by our upholsterer is quoted after measuring.
Fabric metres are billed at supplier cost with no hidden uplift beyond a stated studio coordination fee of 12%.
