Finds
Location notes from houses where a piece finally found its wall.
Recent placements
- Sint-Anna canal house
- A shallow Flemish oak cupboard cleared a 76 cm stair turn and settled under a beam that had defeated two deeper armoires. Evening light from the water side now hits the door panels instead of a blank wall.
- Kristus-Koning attic flat
- Two low teak benches and a 1960s brass lamp gave seating without blocking the dormer. The owner kept a painted chest from a grandmother; we raised it on felt blocks to spare uneven boards.
- Near the Begijnhof
- A rush-seated set of four chairs was stabilised and paired with a narrow extending table that stores leaves in a hallway niche. Guests now fit without shifting a sideboard every Sunday.
- Coupure apartment
- Mid-century wall shelves were cut to stop below the cornice, leaving plaster moulding intact. A single vintage rug defined the sitting zone so the open plan did not feel like a corridor.
- Steenstraat upper floor
- Above our own street, a client’s walnut secretaire returned from a Ghent workshop with repaired hinges and stayed against the quietest wall, away from tourist noise and afternoon sun.
- Sint-Gillis corner house
- Layered linen curtains and a faded tapestry fragment warmed a stone-floored dining room. The antique table stayed centre; new seating was kept visually lighter so the table remained the oldest voice.
How finds are chosen for this list
We publish placements only with client consent and without street numbers. Each note focuses on the constraint that mattered — stair, beam, light, or noise — not on brand names of dealers.
If you want your house considered for a future note, say so when we close the commission; it is never automatic.
Visiting the studio to see current stock
Small objects sometimes wait at Steenstraat 38 between client holds. Ring ahead on +32 50 555 2290; walk-ins during Saturday hours can view what is not reserved.
Large cupboards are photographed in place at dealers rather than stored upstairs in our workshop.
